Blockus

Take your game to the realm of web3

Introduction

More than ever, casual tech users are interacting with crypto, decentralized apps and Play to Earn games. However, unlike in traditional services and gaming experiences, there’s a certain amount of research or preparation required – someone who might want to engage with NFTs, for example, will soon discover that they need to set up a wallet first and know a thing or two about digital ownership. There’s a learning curve in blockchain adoption, which stands as an entry barrier for users and developers alike.

Introduction

The Beginning

Founders Jess Zhang, Michael Wei and Linglong Zhu approached us with a bold idea: to create a pioneering platform that provided all the necessary tools to build and operate web3 game economies, even if the player base came from web2. As such, it had to integrate blockchain so seamlessly that ease-of-use and playability would be guaranteed for both new users and those savvy with the technology. A practical asset management system that empowered creation, ownership, trading and the ability to oversee  earnings was key. SpaceDev enthusiastically embraced Blockus' vision and set out to turn theory into practice!

The Beginning

Making It Happen

One of the primary hurdles was creating a robust API from scratch. This would be the basis for the platform’s NFT management system, as well as the integration of all blockchain operations, including secure and transparent transactions. SpaceDev helped provide an intuitive UI and a back office for developers, while also adding functionalities according to the unique requirements of each game. Since one of Blockus’s goals is to bring the web3 experience to the players, it required us to insert features such as instant wallet creation for users who didn’t have one.

The Outcome

The epic SpaceDev - Blockus partnership culminated in the launch of a platform that now stands at the forefront of the web3 gaming space, enabling developers to easily craft blockchain-compatible virtual experiences while players manage, trade and showcase their in-game possessions. The platform  supports gasless transactions and purchases via fiat currency, and there’s even an NFT marketplace on the way. In the Blockus ecosystem, one is left out.
