The Challenge
Twispi set out to solve a problem that affects companies across Mexico: high employee turnover driven by financial stress, poor workplace communication, and a lack of data to help employers act proactively. The platform needed to serve two audiences simultaneously: employees who needed practical tools and real financial relief, and employers who needed visibility and analytical power to make better HR decisions.
Building for both sides at once is hard. The employee experience had to feel simple and trustworthy, especially when handling sensitive things like salary advances and anonymous reports. The employer side, meanwhile, needed depth: KPIs, filters, and the kind of analytical granularity that actually changes how decisions get made. Making both work well, without letting one compromise the other, required sustained, careful development over time.
The project was also ongoing by nature. Twispi wasn’t a fixed-scope build with a single launch date. It was a product that needed to evolve continuously, with new features added in cadence, existing functionality improved, and technical debt addressed without disrupting what was already in production.
Our Approach
SpaceDev embedded a semi-senior web developer into the Twispi team through a staff augmentation model. Working alongside Twispi’s internal team and any external collaborators, the SpaceDev developer contributed to all areas of the platform using an agile methodology: two-week sprints, continuous delivery, and a steady feedback loop with the product team.
Over the course of the engagement, the work covered a wide surface area. On the employee side: salary advance workflows, integration with medical service providers, a benefits management interface, and an anonymous reporting inbox designed to give employees a safe channel for sensitive communication. On the employer side: a KPI system with advanced analytics, mobile push notifications for workforce communications, and tools to help HR teams track and act on the data that matters.
The development work prioritized user experience throughout. Every feature was built to be straightforward to use, stable, and easy to maintain: the kind of code that the Twispi team can build on without accumulating drag over time.
Results
By the time of writing, SpaceDev has completed more than 32 two-week sprints with Twispi, with the engagement ongoing. The platform has grown from an early-stage product into a comprehensive solution used by businesses in Mexico to improve employee well-being and HR operations.
The employee-facing tools (salary advances, medical access, benefits, and the anonymous inbox) directly address the financial and workplace stressors that drive turnover. Employees have a practical, easy-to-use interface that gives them access to support when they need it. The employer-facing analytics dashboard translates workforce data into actionable intelligence, helping companies make more informed decisions about talent retention and HR strategy.
The platform is stable, performant, and continuing to grow. SpaceDev remains an active development partner, taking on new features and providing technical support as Twispi expands its impact across Mexico.
Tech Stack
The stack keeps things straightforward and maintainable for a long-running product engagement. React powers the frontend, NestJS handles the backend with a clean module structure, and MySQL serves as the primary database. The architecture is well-suited to iterative development: easy to reason about, extend, and keep stable across dozens of sprint cycles.
