The Challenge

Rarible’s mission has always been horizontal: meet builders and collectors wherever they live on-chain. Executing on that mission required adapting a substantial portion of the marketplace infrastructure and collection smart contracts from Solidity on EVM to other architectures (Rust for Solana, Move for Aptos, and beyond) without breaking the developer experience that made Rarible the OG marketplace in the first place.

Our Approach

We took ownership of the core smart-contract migrations and the supporting tooling around them. That meant rewriting marketplace and collection contracts for new VMs, designing a burn-and-mint bridge for seamless cross-chain NFT migration, and shipping SDKs and CLI tools in Rust and TypeScript so internal and external teams could integrate quickly.

Results

Rarible expanded into multiple new chains with feature parity, unlocked cross-chain NFT migration for users, and gained on-chain mechanics (like fully on-chain random card packs) that opened entirely new collection formats.

  • Implemented a burn-and-mint bridge between Ethereum and Solana to enable seamless NFT migration.

  • Developed smart contracts for fully on-chain random card packs, introducing mechanics for distributing NFTs of varying rarities.

  • Improved core Solidity contracts with advanced upgradeability patterns and deterministic deployment strategies.

  • Built CLI tools and SDKs in Rust and TypeScript to streamline marketplace and collection management.
